It is Friday again! What great books are all my friends currently reading? And what fun things do you have planned for this week-end? I’m reading “Between Sisters” by Kristin Hannah, one of my favorite authors. Should have plenty of time this week-end to finish…maybe start a new book too…as I begin my winter reading/hibernation routine in front of the fireplace on Saturday. Yes, I know that winter will not “officially” be here until December 21st, but it abruptly and rudely blasted its way into my life last Wednesday morning when I awoke to huge, sloppy wet snowflakes that intruded on my routine throughout the entire day. Now this snow did not “stick” to the ground, but it irritated me just as much as any 2 foot January snowfall possibly could. It means that my dearly beloved fall is coming to an early end, that I must say “good bye” to the last of my lovely flowers, find my woolen socks, put the heating coil in the front birdbath so my dear birdies & squirrels can drink when northern Indiana is nothing but one big frozen tundra…etc….etc. However, will “winter” stop me…it never does. Later this evening Matt and I will be in South Bend enjoying the “Pops” season opener of the South Bend Symphony Orchestra…preceded by a lovely dinner. And Sunday we look forward to the Boy Scouts semi-annual pancake breakfast, with much anticipated Sinai Forum speaker, Richard Baker….historian to the Senate….in the evening. So all griping aside, I will find my snowbrush when the sun rises, dig my heavy wool winter coat out of the closet, and check the tomato plants for any additional green tomatoes that must be brought in to ripen in the house. Life is good and God has truly blessed me. Enjoy this week-end, my friends. And if you live in the “snowbelt” today might be a good time to find that snowbrush.
