It is Heroes Day in my native country of Zimbabwe. Fondly - TopicsExpress

It is Heroes Day in my native country of Zimbabwe. Fondly remembered with all my heart are them the brave sons and daughters of the soil who perished under the gun of the greedy racial colonists that had been taught the art of killing all in the name minerals and land as they marched and massacred innocent people! Maybe l should not put it as such for it kinder stinks of hate and anger! But anger only corrodes one from inside and the more we learn to forgive the more we free our souls! As sad as it is, it sure did happen and l see it today in the scars of war that sure may heal but the memories never fade away! The colonial system also had a way of ingraining itself into the DNA of the people and l see it today as people shun who they are for sheer of wanting to be associated with far away lands that they may never ever reach at all! Simba rehove riri mumvura ndiko kuti Mozisi nzvimbo yauri itsvene! The grass is forever greener on the other side, you just need to see the grass around you and you will be set to go freely like a bird that has flown away from prison bars!! Ding dong!! It was none other than the British businessman, mining magnate and politician John Rhodes whose ridiculous quest to conquer from Cape to Cairo had gave false birth to Rhodesia!! He even contended that the British were the first race and the more of the world they inhabited, the better it was for the human race and ever if there was a thing called God, he sure had not doubt that his calling was to paint as much as he could the map of Africa British red!! And this so called visionary knew way back then that to save the forty million inhabitants of the United Kingdom from a bloody civil war, the colonial statesmen had to acquire new lands for settling the surplus population of Britain, to provide new markets! The Empire, repeatedly he pointed out, was a bread and butter question!! Happy Heroes Day to all my fellow countrymen who value independence and respect the laws of the land!
