It is a damn joke. In no way does this mascot promote diversity. It doesnt show that they want people of all races to come to their school. To some people it may not go that deep but to others it does and I dont believe the board looked at all angles when they voted and made the stupid decision to approve this mascot. I used to go to UTPA and this is another reason I am so glad I transferred to UH. Why would anyone want to go to a school where they cant even pronounce the name of the damn mascot. It shows that they only care about the Mexican population and that isnt right. Yes Mexicans make up most of the RGVs population but dont they want it to grow and become a more diverse group of people. You should want people to be attracted to living in the valley.
