It is a glorious day here at Our Childrens House! I woke to - TopicsExpress

It is a glorious day here at Our Childrens House! I woke to Brittans Aunt Laura crying tears of joy because Brittan was giving her lots of BIG hugs this morning! Aunt Laura was Brits watcher last night which means she stayed awake all night long and kept an eye on Brit while Danl and I slept. We are fortunate enough to have family and friends watch Brit each night so that Danl and I can rest (even if it is rest on cots in Brits room!). Since the day of his accident, Brit has always had a loved one present 24/7 except during his surgical procedures! We are so blessed and in awe of the love and support you all continue to provide to our family! Yesterday, Brit was able to go outside for the first time since his accident. He loved it! His heart rate went down and he was very relaxed. Such a simple but wonderfully precious thing for us, sitting outside in the sunshine (even if it was 105 degrees)!!! It has been an amazing week for Brit full of progress and a lot of hard work! He started 1-hour long PT/OT sessions last Wednesday. The focus has been to introduce him to sitting and standing again. Also, Brit has been communicating with us via an iPad (answering yes/no questions) and is even pointing at things to get our attention. On Thursday, they began a trial to cap Brits trach. He started with two 15 minute trials each day and is now up to four 30 minute trials daily. As with all the other therapies, Brit has knocked it out of the park!! His oxygen saturation and heart rate stayed normal during the trial. This morning, he was so relaxed during the trial he kept falling asleep! Tomorrow, the physicians plan to increase the medicine that wakes him up again. Please pray that he wakes up with as little agitation as possible!! We know this week is going to be full of blessings for our Brit!!! Please pray that he wakes up this week and that he has the endurance and strength for his physical therapy! Thank you all for continuing to follow Brits story and, most importantly, your prayers. We know God is faithful to those who believe! Love to all!
