“It is a great honor to receive the Friend of Farm Bureau award,” said Congressman Bishop. “As the grandson of a potato farmer on eastern Long Island, I have a deep appreciation for the history and economic importance of the agricultural community here on Long Island. I would like to thank the American Farm Bureau Federation and the New York Farm Bureau for this recognition. I also wish to thank the Long Island Farm Bureau, in particular its Executive Director Joe Gergela, for hosting yesterday’s forum and for extending a warm welcome to Under Secretary Avalos and Congressman Hoyer.
