It is a pity and sad to note that a country like India, the largest democracy in the world with 84 crore voters can be so easily fooled and taken for a ride by BJP with its fantasies, myths, rhetorics, exaggeration and false promises. We boast of being the worlds third large economy with the best of scientists, doctors, engineers, IT professionals etc. But, in reality we are carried away to fantasies. It was sad that nobody checked the basic facts first, or put the claims of black money, 2G spectrum or coal block figures to the test of basic reasonableness. Now, take the case of CAG notional loss figure estimated at Rs 1.76 lakh crore, which in reality amounts to 4.4% of Indias GDP, and a couple of billion dollars more than twice our entire defence budget for that year. Now, could you imagine that a little bit of spectrum could be that much? Could Indias telecom sector have paid that kind of money for it? Coal notional loss at Rs 1.86 lakh crore is another cruel example. Same is the case with the black money projected by BJP and the astronomical figures of Baba Ramdev. Only, Ramdev could tell you it is several times our GDP which is stashed abroad. Ultimately, all the astronomical figure-work touted by BJP to come to power is fine. But, they failed to realise that there is no bigger embarrassment than being a prey to their own fantasies -the price for which the people and nation have to bear.
