It is a pleasure to congratulate to Charlene Mauro, of the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station, for being awarded the Presidential Innovation Award for Environmental Education. This award is given by the White House Council on Environmental Quality, in conjunction with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and it recognizes Ms. Mauros contributions to environmental education and stewardship. Educators like Ms. Mauro are doing great things in our schools, especially in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). We are fortunate to have a wonderful resource like the Navarre Beach Marine Science Station in our backyard. The Station has hosted more than 5,000 students and community members since 2009, and it offers a variety of activities focused on conservation and the marine ecosystem. Congratulations again to Ms. Mauro for this well earned honor, and thank you for all that you do for our students.
