It is a pleasure to present the 2013-2014 annual report. At first I would like to thank all my fellow AECians for electing me to the post of Minor Games Secretary, AECSU, 2013-2014. Winning the election from a minority packing of 2:5 and serving Assam Engineering College as the Minor Games Secretary is something reminiscing throughout life. As we reflect upon the past year, I am very proud of the achievements made by our college community. Thanks to the dedication, hard work and leadership of our fellow AECians. AEC is positioned for a strong and vibrant future, on in which the college continues on its mission of providing an affordable atmosphere for co-curricular activities and academics. Within this report, one will read about the highlights of the past year events. As an MGS, I had to look after three games/sports i,e. Basketball, Volley ball and Batminton. My tenure started with the proposal and budget submission for the full renovation of the college basketball court which included installation of fiber boards, lighting, proper drainage and provision for drinking water. Several meetings were held with the principal and the development committee regarding this matter but unfortunately the work could not be materialized. I therefore urge my next successor to move on this path in order to avail this facility. Apart from this, the following events were organised during my tenure: 1. Started the Bhabesh Barali Basketball Tournament in the month of September in memory of my late hostel mate, Bhabesh. This tournament witnessed active participation from all the hostels including girls. Hostel# 5 took away the trophy with a cash prize of Rs. 3000 which was sponsored by hostel #2. For the first time in the history of AEC, Girls Basketball Team was formed who played their debut match against Donbosco Girls Basketball Team. Some of the renovation works which were carried out during my tenure are: 1. Installed an 85 Watts lamp in the basketball court in the month of December 2013. 2. Made small renovations on the basketball court floor also giving some floor paint in some regions. 3. Replaced the old board with a new one. The budget allocated to me for managing and organising events for the 3 games was Rs. 25000/- .
