It is a repeat story that needs not be forgotten. This story is one of the incredible stories that I would love to get more info on, but the author is reluctant to identify the physician. The story began in 2009 after a 46 y.o. woman was scheduled for cervical redo surgery at a hospital in Bullhead City, Az. She had had 2 prior failed cervical surgeries with instrumentation. Her second surgery was followed by difficulty in swallowing and a weight loss of 40lbs. To which the surgeon said she needed a psychiatrist. Before doing this 3rd surgery an endoscopy was done and the cervical redo was cancelled because of esophageal involvement. The actual explanation wasnt given to either the patient or the family. The patient was given an ENT consult to Las Vegas and was discharged home after the Las Vegas physician requested a gastrostomy feeding tube. She was allowed to drink fluids and ensure via feeding tube three time a day. Her ENT consult was scheduled about a week later but she deteriorated so rapidly she was taken to Las Vegas on the 4th day after discharge. Upon admission to Las Vegas she was 87 lbs, and she is 511, pale, 120-130-140 pulse, 80sbp and 103 core temp. She was very confused. She was in the ICU for 13 weeks and had several surgeries mainly to place drains into the infected area. She was discharged home with drains and a suction machine for better than 4 months. Oh, nothing by mouth. She had had recurrent infections which hindered repair surgery. After about 4 months the ENT surgeon tried repairs and both failed, although the second repair lasted 8 months which allowed her to eat and drink after 8 months of not being able to due so. Actually it was longer than that. The failure of the second surgery required the services of a different surgeon and a different technique which was effective. Although considered a success simply because she is alive, she still has significant sputum production causing her to hack up gobs of sputum every 10-15 mins., which she has learned to swallow as she now works with the public; in the same hospital that initially did the surgery. The surgeon who did the surgery has long since been terminated. Shortly after, perhaps 6 months, a review of her record revealed the record keeping of the surgeon which made reference of esophageal excoriation. The endoscopy report, eventually tracked down by somebody who knew where to look, was clear that a 1X2 perforation was evident to which the surgeon was informed of. Upon learning this the husband of the patient informed the administration, from the bottom up, to which most implied no compliance with. A sentinel event in hospital terms is basically an unexpected life threatening event that occurred by staff error. Although there are more definitions, it applies in this case. The husband allegedly threatens the life of the surgeon and is terminated. He claims never to have made contact. The hospital files for protection injunction and later the husband is arrested for violation of the same. His house is searched and his computer is seized but they only find a usable amount of marijuana. The courts continue and continue the case as at that time the surgeon is still on staff. God forbid we should format a case whilst the surgeon is still on staff. Its not too long before the hospital realizes that perhaps the real neuro-spine surgeon is laying in a shallow grave in Chicago and the one doing surgery here is undoubtedly an imposter who stole his identity; and so they terminated his contract, Then its OK to proceed with the criminal case against the husband, even though the case is timed-out for its many continuances. He now works at another hospital not too far away. The husband then refusing any negotiations and looses at trail, appeal and is sent to jail. The surgeon fails to get a license to practice in Nevada, for undisclosed reasons, and subsequently does independent surgery at the facility where the husband worked. The husband is fired from that facility and the surgeon files a complaint with the now infamous Arizona State Board of Nursing Corruption. Although there is no nurse practice act violation the surgeon falsely testifies that the husband stalked and threatened him in the hospital. The evidence of that is one 4 year old email whose origin is unclear. The marijuana compliant is not a nurse practice act violation, but the prescription for the same is ignored anyway. The nurse is placed on 2 year probation which has ridiculous stipulations. The surgeon continued his mayhem until somebody got the bright idea that he was incompetent. Although these in competencies were well established many times over, they could still make a few dollars. They found out otherwise. The story has many convolutions and spins offs. It is a story of white collar crime and criminals. I mean real crime, felonies and fraud that is so blatantly ignored that our health care system and the justice system is obviously run by criminals. Those that could make a difference are only concerned about themselves and their paychecks. The details of this posting are known to me to be factual and are diluted in many areas. Only for reasons of space and time are the facts diluted. I personally know the victims. One of those areas of criminal behavior is the patients attempt at filing a civil complaint. What people will do to avoid responsibility is unreal. That portion is another chapter of criminal behavior. The now infamous neuro-spine surgeon filed a civil defame/suit suit in Mohave Superior Court against the husband for being humane. I am aware of these details about this case, and many more details about criminals working within our system. Although the hospital in this case was very much a part of these criminals, the organization of Community Health Services/Systems of Tn was duped, badly duped by modern day criminals. It is doubtful that anybody in their right mind would think that a licensed MD in the state of Arizona could be such a criminal. That is where Lisa Wynn comes in. For those of you who dont remember her she was the director of the Az Medical Board whom recently was terminated for failing to do regulation investigations. She personally cleared the complaint on this case. So you see, John Q Public, going to a health care facility can be more dangerous than going to prison. The real criminals are in your own back yard. And you dont have to be a Veteran to die in the street.
