It is a very sad fact that, as the most progressive and forward - TopicsExpress

It is a very sad fact that, as the most progressive and forward looking member of my family, and aware of the fact that I stand at the very forefront of progressive culture in the area where I live (northern Baja)...I am starting to contemplate the possible necessity of migration away from the area, as a survival measure. Drying wells all around us, massively increased exploitation of the wells around me by the Jersey milk Co....(which is sending massive units to collect water from the neighbors well right next door to us since July...easily tripling the outtake of water and creating panic among all the ranchers with wells here, as we are close to the sea and water can at any moment turn saline...and useless...). Now, my mother and I are on very good terms and she is becoming increasingly aware of the possibility of collapse around us. She is becoming aware of climate change and how drastic it will be, and lethal as well. It was only a matter of time...she lives in close proximity with me. I think the coming rains may unfortunately contribute to climate change blindness all around us. It takes very little for people to remain complacent and blind. But truly...is it smart to stay put when any future at all may lie as far away from the tropics as possible?. We are US citizens. We can do it. Will my family be prepared for exodus?. Will my progressive friends looking for relocation in Baja reconsider soon, and move north instead?. These are my thoughts. I would not be surprised if these kinds of questions and dilemmas come under some regime of virtual control...for these visions of drying landscape and collapse of culture in the southern regions may lead to increased social unrest and unforeseeable reactions.
