It is against federal law to possess a firearm if you have ever - TopicsExpress

It is against federal law to possess a firearm if you have ever been convicted of a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. This was intended to prevent an escalation of violence resulting in death. However, in the recent Castleman decision, the court is preventing a man from having a gun business because of a prior guilty plea to a misdemeanor charge. This might mean only a slap, or even threatening to slap someone. Or perhaps push? According to the court, any amount of touching is sufficient. Should people be prevented from selling guns because they slapped someone they lived with, sometime in their lives? supremecourt.gov/
