It is already here. Biblical illiteracy is at an all time high in America and in churches. Few know what the Bible says or how to study it. 90% of pastors will not preach on contemporary political or social issues. 2/3 of self-identified Christians either have no connection with a church or only go a few times a year. Of the 1/3 who regularly attend church, an increasing number follow doctrines of liberalism or health and wealth and not sound Biblical teachings. Many others get hung up on secondary and tertiary issues. Others focus only on evangelism and preach a gospel of factual accent and not of complete surrender of the will. All the while throwing out the part of the great commission about discipleship. Churches have been abandoning prayer meetings and in depth bible studies and doctrinal and lay ministerial training. Church members are too worried about keeping up with the Kardashians than with their fellow believers. We have become focused on being one with the culture instead of being one with God and each other. I could go on and on. And we wonder why revival and awakening is not coming.
