It is also necessary to mention here that more than 200 villages of the Mewat district lies in a highly saline zone where poor villagers have to buy water to survive. They call for a water tanker to come about 10 km to their village. Each tanker delivery costs Rs. 800 – Rs. 1600 and the capacity of the tankers ranges from 5,000 to 11,000 litres. Only rich people can afford to construct an underground storage tank. Those who cannot afford their storage put their shares in neighbor’s tank sometimes that leads to disputes over the amount of water used by each. The tanker water last one household for 15 to 20 days and in an average every household have to spend approximately 15000/- rupees in a year. The families that cannot afford to buy water tankers to meet their needs, they have no option but to use polluted, unhygienic water source
