It is always about the end of January when the garden catalogs and the blogs start gearing up with ideas and plans. For me, this is the most exciting time of the year. I can dream and plan and next month I will be filling little peat pots with those magic seeds. I will watch ,every day, for those brave little sprouts to push through the dirt. I will give them plenty of light and lots of love. In return, they will give me food, flowers, herbs, and a chance to be intimate with the earth. They will teach me how to care for them and I will tend them with so much love. I will watch the bees and hope that a toad or two decides to take up residence in the little pot hut I have made just for a little toad family. Maybe this year I will put up a bat house. I will make a pool for the visiting birds and I will know that special peace that comes from putting my hands in the dirt.
