It is always tricky discussing things that are important to people as people have different beliefs and ideas of what is true and what is not true. I find even when people share similar beliefs and agree on what is true that simply by the very ambiguous nature of language if they are thoroughly questioned about their beliefs we can easily find people are not agreeing on meaning as much as they thought they were. In my own studies researching what is true for me and what is not I find I have to take this point into account so to counter that, I like to start by believing people have very different ways of describing the same/similar phenomena so perhaps the ultimate truth is not easily expressed and we are all speaking in metaphor describing our ideas on these matters. This makes it easy then to listen with an open mind when hearing peoples stories and ideas on any subject. I see many good people with good ideas and good intentions still needing to squabble about what is truth rather than build a consensus of idea and learn what it takes to work together to achieve this. Learning to work and build new ideas and ways of approaching old problems from my thinking is an honourable endeavour and I will listen to anybody no matter what their beliefs are if they are willing to do this. This way we will get better and more refined language to refine messages and thinking so we can become less fragmented as a species and learn to work together accepting others ways of viewing things and learning from them to add to our own beliefs and ideas to help us all now and in the future.
