It is amazing how our perspectives change. Today, my children had planned a huge thing with family pictures, for my birthday. I had ordered pizzas so everyone could come over afterwards and visit. Now, keep in mind that with my three children, their spouses, grandchildren, our great nephew and us, there are 17 people in our house. After everyone left, chairs were put up, toys put away and the kitchen cleaned, I was settled in for the night. I was walking barefoot,(something I rarely do anymore) through the kitchen, and I stepped in a sticky blob, took another step and stepped in another sticky blob. I smiled and felt my heart warm. I loved stepping in the sticky blobs. I got cleaning supplies and cleaned them up and smiled at the mess and at myself. I probably did not enjoy that experience 37, 33 or 30 years ago. I was probably tired and grumpy. It is good growing older and realizing the sweet value of a sugary substance on your floor. Precious little ones that will soon be grown, have been having a blast and making memories and messes in my house. How I value these times and miss my own children being small.
