It is amazing how the National Anthem manages to stir the spirit each time it is played. Even if one is not overcome by patriotic emotions all the time, as soon as one hears the strains of jana gana mana there is something that evokes the Spiritual, much much beyond the realms of a tangible nation and nationality. It is as if the mahapurush Rabindranath Tagore, nurtured in the mystical music traditions of Vaishnavism and the Bauls, exalted his motherland to the status of divinity while he wrote and composed this impeccable piece. Hence the heart-tugs each time, every time. Just listened to the most fabulous and uplifting rendition of the national anthem by Shreya Ghoshal.
