It is an honor and a privilege for me to introduce my good friend - TopicsExpress

It is an honor and a privilege for me to introduce my good friend Sreenanda Shankar to this amazing page. She is the daughter of the famous Danseuse Tanusree Shankar and an amazing musician Late Ananda Shankar. She is also the granddaughter of the very famous dancer Uday Shankar. But unlike the perception of a child having her own way all the time by being born to a well known family, she wasn’t the proverbial born-with-a-silver-spoon child. At a very young age she decided to move to Mumbai to carve her own identity in the film world. Her father has always been her inspiration and her mother has always supported her. She wanted to be in a place where people didn’t recognize her. She wanted her own identity and she got what she wanted. Makeover Madness was born. A Facebook page she started in March 2012, which has over 10,000 members and over 65 makeovers. Sreenanda picks “real and everyday women with inspiring personalities” and gives them “an extension of their personalities”. “It is a means of expression for me,” says Sreenanda, armed with a foundation course in make-up from London. She believes that every woman is beautiful in her own way and at the same time, highly insecure about her look. Moreover they don’t believe in grooming or taking care of themselves. According to her, just by doing minimal make-up or grooming, one notices a difference in their self-esteem and also how others perceive them. She started this group in India where there were limited resources available to make women achieve easy looks with simple make-up tricks. This is how the idea was born and Makeover Madness was born. When asked whom would she do her makeovers, this is what she said – “I love doing makeovers for all kinds of women. Most women in our country don’t even realise how beautiful they are! It’s amazing to see the positive change in their lives and attitude after a makeover. Of course, celebrities already know what to do or have their own make-up artists, so a demonstration on them would not be helpful to my members. However, I would love to work on some famous business or sports women someday.” Her primary profession is still dance. She is the Director at Tanusree Shankar Dance Company. Makeover Madness is her passion and it is growing in leaps and bounds. Her idea of this page is to not only provide make-up and styling tips, but create an avenue for women to share their looks, appreciate and compliment each other, and create a vibe of positivity. It has taken a lot of constant dedication on her part to maintain this page. When doing a makeover, she will first look at the person’s face and personality to understand what will suit her, do 1-3 looks and do a photo shoot after that. The pictures are for them to keep and she will share their looks on Makeover Madness. At the end of every session, she provides basic make-up suggestions for everyday looks and gives out what she calls a make-up prescription. I have been lucky enough to be part of her journey from the very beginning. I was the second makeover she did and I will never ever forget my experience. It is not just about make-up, but it is the whole experience of feeling great, of finally being comfortable in your own skin, of gaining your self-confidence, and portraying yourself gracefully and candidly. I am forever grateful to her for that lifetime of an experience, it has most definitely changed my life. WINGS is very proud to have her as one of the members and it is so amazing to see someone that has made it her personal mission to make a woman embrace her beauty, confidence, and in the process help her grow and live to her fullest potential. She is an amazing source of inspiration for women from all walks of life and all around the world.
