It is apparently simply impossible to say anything at all about Israel and Palestine on Facebook and have that lead to a productive conversation. The shouting and mutual acrimony kick right in. I deleted the post I just put up, which basically acknowledged that there are good folks on all sides of this issue, and cautioned against painting with broad brushes. Not too much, I thought. But the emotions are running too high — as they should be, and were not able to measure our words, as we should be. There are many layers, deep and shallow, to my heartbreak.
