It is difficult for a person of color to be cast at all in a Hollywood film or major television serial. Unfortunately when they do get cast; the roles are ones that depict them as being deviant, anything but mainstream. African-American and Asian American actors faced this dilemma 20-30 years ago; now they cast in major productions in positive roles. Indo-American actors being the new kids-on-the-block are in that quandry now. Kalinda in The Good Wife does not dress professionally like others in her office. She wears leather boots, real short skirts and is a lesbian ! Bhavesh Patel the other Indian guy turned out to be a turn-coat cheat who lies blatantly for a promotion betraying the protagonist. Rizwan Manji who played the scheming assistant manager in Outsourced plays a Pakistani prison head kidnapping a blonde American woman in Touch. - Kim Singh. Asia News
