It is extremely disappointing that this discoverer sees the find - TopicsExpress

It is extremely disappointing that this discoverer sees the find purely in terms of his own personal profit (this comes through the interview like a mantra) as if his convenience is more important than mounting a first-class national display of these coins. In fact, it does not sound as if this man has any genuine interest in history at all, as he makes no allusion whatsoever to the historical importance of the find. If he had any morality at all, he would bequeath them to the nation. Luckily however, the Treasure Act may rule that he is not entitled to sell and disperse this invaluable find. We had a similar case in Georgia recently, when a gold mine from the third millennium BC was deliberately destroyed by people who thought it was more important to feed the families of the gold mine workers, than stop for a moment and try and find some way of preserving heritage. There are many foundations more than willing to assist in such cases, I would imagine.
