It is fundamentally unjust and immoral that one percent of humanity can control more than 50 percent of its wealth. What makes it worse is that so much of this wealth was accumulated as a result of a system rigged in favor of the rich. For all of the complaints by the rich of class warfare, the truth is that the top 1 percent has been taking from the rest of us for decades. Its time for a more progressive income tax and a higher marginal rate on the aggregate income of the nations top wage earners combined with tax cuts targeted toward the middle class and low-income earners and an expansion of the earned income tax credit.
