It is going to be a busy week for me in prep for AFM round 6 and with a lot of bike work to do as well as helping other riders. I thought I would answer the Friday question with this post and a video link. The weight saving merry go round we are on makes all parts more and more easy to bend. Even falling off the kickstand can bend the lower triple clamps slightly. Any slow speed crash will most certainly bend many things and will move the engine in the frame. Thats ne of the most forgotten tasks - loosen up all the engine bolts completely and then re-torque them all. I will always asked if a crashed bike has been measured before it comes under the canopy for suspension work. I dont want to chase a ghost. I dont care if it is a street, track or race bike. The collective WE need to know it is straight. If you dont have a vendor in a reasonable driving distance from you, then you will have to go old school with chalk lines and plumb bob weights and glass plates, but at least you can see what is bent. If the bike is totaled by the insurance company - then really think about letting it go! Does it matter if the bike is ever so slightly not straight? youtube/watch?v=LExnaSYFwBM
