It is good the Delhi High Court took cognizance of tragic death of a child in Delhi and e-rickshaws have been banned. Mr Gadkari is also working towards regulating them and defining rules for them. However, will anybody do something to eliminate these Jugaads from Indian roads. The smaller ones are made mostly from the engines from stolen vehicles put in ordinary cycle rickshaw. These vehicles are used to ferry everything from vegetables, construction material, cattle to human beings. No registration, fitness or license required. No Pollution certificate needed. In any sensible country, the reaction of Govt would have been immediate impounding of these vehicles and criminal cases against their makers and users. But my country is a mobocracy and these poor people make a perfect mob for politicians. If anybody has doubts, see how AAP tried and is still trying to woo them and how Mr Gadkari was trying to give a humanitarian touch to e-rickshaws in Delhi before court intervened
