It is good to greet each of you a week before we celebrate - TopicsExpress

It is good to greet each of you a week before we celebrate Thanksgiving. The East Coast is suffering through the snow storms that our mountains should be getting right now. Six feet of snow in some areas, with more on the way. Even though it has been cold here, we have not had to wonder if our roofs will hold all the snow, at least to date! God bless each of you as you look toward next week and the Holiday Season on its way. I want to share some TLC (True Life Cares) news from Tammy and Gina, as well as other church news today. I have been reading the Book of II Samuel. I am amazed once again at the story of David as a conquering king, AND as a suffering victim. And then in the Book of Psalms, David could write so many wonderful descriptions of God the Father. Look at Psalm 130. I read in New International Version of the Bible in verse 3, David writes: “If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins, O Lord, who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness; therefore You are feared.” Psalm 130:3 I really like what The Message Bible says on this verse: “If You, God, kept records on wrongdoings, who would stand a chance? As it turns out, forgiveness is Your habit, and that’s why You’re worshiped.” Psalm 130:3 We are not to “fear” God in the sense that we are “afraid”. “Fear”, as one of the dictionary definitions is “extreme reverence or awe, as toward a deity”. So when we read words like “fear God and give glory to Him”, it means to reverence Him supremely. God bless each of us in our search and discovery of Him. ___________________________________ 1.
