It is good to have hot water again after three days without! Never a good thing to go in your basement and find a ceiling tile in the middle of the floor! With this arctic weather, my first thought was a pipe burst and the rest of the ceiling was filled with water but hadnt fallen yet. Luckily, that was not the case. It was a small drip in a hotwater line that slowly soaked the tile; the weight finally causing it to fall. Seems when the line was installed 30 years ago when the house was built, the copper staple used to hold the pipe to the joist was tight around the pipe and the friction from the thermal expansion wore a tiny hole in the pipe over the years. Luckily, Ron the resident plumber, was able to replace the pipe but it took him several days to find the time to do so. With subzero weather, a cold shower is VERY cold! Sometimes the simple things in life, like a hot shower, are taken for granted!
