It is good to know your purpose in this lifetime. My purpose is to spread hope, love, and encouragement for those seeking to improve the quality of life. Keeping this in mind striving to help others is my goal each and everyday and in doing so I help myself. One of my favorite Psychologist is Karen Horney. She believed everyone has a need to feel valued and belong. The effects of devaluing people can reap havoc on Society. We are to love each other for who we are and not what we do. Paying close attention to our own behaviors and attitudes towards those who are different from us is especially important. It is easy to get caught up in our daily activities and the rush of accomplishing all we need to, without being mindful of how we are treating others. Sometimes, without meaning to, we may inadvertently be insensitive to the needs or feelings of a person with a disability. Culturally sensitive responses may not always come readily to mind. As a Church community we need to ensure that all of Gods people are welcomed and included in our ministry. There is a role for everyone.
