It is great to see how the Ray Rice story has galvanized the nation. After all, could ANYBODY be in this guys corner? I think not. But beyond the obvious, Rice is fecal matter at best, step back and look how the NFL has reacted. On August 28, 2014, in the wake of criticism over a two-game suspension for Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice, the NFL established a six-game unpaid ban for personnel who violate the leagues policy on domestic violence. To little, to late, Mr. Goodell The NFL knew about this incident with Rice back in June 2014. Goodell suspended Rice for the first 2 games of the season after watching a video tape showing Janay being dragged unconscious from the elevator. The NFL has steadfastly denied viewing the tape inside the elevator until recently, even though published reports said the NFL DID have a copy of the footage inside the elevator. Goodell said he got it wrong. Are you kidding? WRONG? Two game suspension for that? Maybe the NFL is planning to draft Chris Brown next season? If only Mr. Goodell could have gleaned from his NBA counterparts. Two owners have lost their teams for written and verbal indiscretions. This is a player who beat his now spouse unconscious and a TWO game suspension? Even a six game suspension is to light. And no doubt because of the outcry of this terrible decision, Goodell said the NFL will reevaluate its position. Goodell started his career with the NFL as an intern almost 30 years ago. This terrible decision should be his last. Their are too many qualified leaders to run the NFL that would not have given Ray Rice the break Goodell did. Even if he stiffens the penalty, the owners need to get him OUT! Now!
