It is important to understand that before Clinton neo-liberals - TopicsExpress

It is important to understand that before Clinton neo-liberals started dismantling all that is public starting with corporatizing our public universities----the public had tons of venues to attend and participate in public discussion of public policy and candidates and issues. Public universities had regular open meeting with discussion and debates with unlimited time for discussion. Private non-profits like League of Women Voters, NAACP, and ACLU created venues for lots of public discussion and involvement in public policy. Public media made open discussion of all political opinions on policy a priority with venues on their programming allowing for unrestricted public discussion, AND our local and state government buildings----City Halls and State Assembly buildings had public meeting areas where groups of citizens gathered to openly and freely discuss and debate public policy. THEN, THESE POLS YOU SEE IN THIS PANEL GIVING 3 MINUTES TO DISCUSS POLICY INSTEAD ATTENDED THESE PUBLIC MEETINGS TO LISTEN TO WHAT THE PUBLIC SAID WAS THE PROBLEM AND SOLUTION FOR THESE PUBLIC POLICY ISSUES. THAT IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE. Flash forward after three decades of Clinton neo-liberalism working with Republicans----all of those public venues are gone and there is absolutely no public discussion of issues in any depth anywhere----universities, media, non-profits and government buildings are silent. THIS IS THE PROBLEM and getting rid of Clinton neo-liberals and Republicans is the solution. Baltimore is captured by a very neo-conservative Johns Hopkins that makes sure none of these public venues exist. The Baltimore Democratic Committee is filled with farm team Johns Hopkins pols. Citizens can reverse this easy peasy by becoming the Baltimore Democratic Committee and/or running independently to take back the political process from the Hopkins Corporation!
