It is impossible to follow Christ apart from joining His church. We have all heard the phrase and some have even said it themselves, I love Jesus, but I just cant stand church. Well if the church is the bride of Christ thats like telling Jesus, I love you and thank you for all you have done, but I cant stand your wife, the church. Likewise, the church is known as the body of Christ. When we use that phrase it is just like saying to Jesus, I love you Jesus, but I cant stand your body. Its time we redefine our skewed perception of what church is and get back to what God, through Jesus Christ intended it to be. We are the body. We are His bride. Take away the building, the sound systems, the offering plates, the events, the normal Sunday/Wednesday gathering, and the food/fellowship. Could people look at you and still be able to see the church? No doors to walk through, no pews to sit in, no musicians to lead you into worship, no scheduled events, and no scheduled outreach times. Just YOUR LIFE. Are you His bride? Are you a part of His body? ARE YOU HIS CHURCH?. Credit to David Platt in his book Follow Me for the initial thought and several phrases!!
