It is impossible to start to think better about yourself if you do not acknowledge your inner critic that is thinking negatively about yourself. Dont be afraid of getting to know this critic. Dont try to suppress this critic. Accept that it exists. Now look at it more closely, identify the thoughts that it is creating. Can you identify why it thinks this way? When did it learn to be so critical? From who did it learn this thinking from? Getting to know your inner critic will help you create some space from it. Creating space from this critic is like creating space from the belief in the negative thoughts of this critic. Just observe it and let it be. you dont have to buy into it anymore. Once you do this, it will help you to create more balanced thinking; thoughts that only need to be slightly better than what you are currently thinking. Dont reach too far because you may just dismiss these more Optimistic thoughts outright. These balanced thoughts will help you release your belief in the chronic negative thinking. When you start to release your belief in your negative thinking you also automatically release your negative emotions. This will then make you feel better. Doing this regularly is the key and in a couple of weeks you will notice an improvement in your mood.
