It is indeed heartening to note that CM KPK Mr Khattak has announced identical syllabus for private and public schools while declaring English to be the medium of instructions. If implemented with honesty and determination this decision will go a long way in doing away with high level of frustration and arresting the extremist tendencies in our society. This will also narrow down the communication gap between different strata of our social divide. One thing, however, is really bothering me. Where will Khatak saab find teaching staff for this purpose because the present lot is extremely incapable when it comes to communicating in English language. It is most often the case that students of public schools prove much sharper than the government teachers who check their papers and very often, mainly due to this fact, they suffer because these teachers can not conceive what these brilliant students want to convey. I think Mr Khattak has assigned a herculean job to himself for which he will require a new fleet of capable teachers. The intentions, however, are more than noble. I wish the best of luck to him and his team.
