It is interesting how much weight we give to the mere act of announcing names, as if our lives depend on those names, as if we are clueless and bored to our cores, as if we feed on political drama and thus cannot survive unless the next show begins. It is even more interesting that the persons whose names would eventually be announced, are equally clueless, especially about the work that awaits them. The final act that we are so impatiently drawn towards is normalcy, the routine of moving on with our lives once the dust of excitement of new names and the disappointment at their inability to cause the unimaginable miracles of salvation has settled. If Afghanistan was a nation of hard working women and men, we would have not even noticed the political show of appointments. Well, we are not, what we are not, but what are we?
