It is just a short coach ride from our lovely hotel, The Falcondale, to Lampeter Town Hall, the venue for the Welsh Quilt Centre. We arrived 15 mins before opening, but no worries there happened to be a quilt shop alongside. Calico Kate (calicokate.co.uk) turned out to have 8 rooms of fabric! Beautifully displayed and all sorts of quilting goodies we could not live without. It took a lot of discipline to get us out by 11am, but we knew we could go back later for more retail therapy. Jen Jones greeted us in the Gallery shop of the Quilt Centre and we were guided up a staircase, lined with Kaffe Fasset quilts and into what was the old courtroom. This is now a stunning venue for a quilt exhibition. If you are anywhere nearby GO! Jen gave us a talk about how the centre started and her collection of 350 Welsh quilts, some of which were on display. The current exhibition is a mixture of Kaffe’ modern style quilts combined with the wholecloth welsh quilts. You would not think this would work, but it does. I love the social history of quilting and this basket of pieces of quilts with a little history was so interesting. Time for some stitching on the terrace, in the glorious sunshine, overlooking the gardens. Wales when the sun shines, is stunning! See the pics in the Welsh Quilt Centre album
