It is my painful duty to inform you that our SAMAHAN CENTRAL BOARD - TopicsExpress

It is my painful duty to inform you that our SAMAHAN CENTRAL BOARD is illegitimate. Repost: Gab Martinez, Samahan ConComm Commisioner To my beloved schoolmates, my fellow ATENEANS, good evening. When there are school events for students, we entrust the task to SAMAHAN. When we get school-related problems, we turn to SAMAHAN. When we want to lobby our concerns to the admin, we go to SAMAHAN. And when there are school competitions that we students tend to cheer for our division, among the facilitators--the SAMAHAN. But the sad fact about SAMAHAN is that it can be abolished at anytime. The hero that you think can save you is SAMAHAN, but the hero that is needed by the SAMAHAN is YOU. It is my painful duty to inform you that our SAMAHAN CENTRAL BOARD is illegitimate. It is true that there exists a 1982 SAMAHAN Constitution, but aside from its being obsolete or being outdated, that it can no longer hold present dynamics, that Constitution is also not ratified. Why cant we give SAMAHAN the chance to be legitimate? In the end, we always turn to our dear SAMAHAN. Another fact about our dear SAMAHAN is that of all the Ateneo student governments (ADMU, ADNU, ADZU, and XU) in the country, only our student government, the SAMAHAN of Ateneo of Davao has no ratified constitution yet. Student leaders of these schools had expressed their concern about SAMAHAN in BUKLOD. How about us who are students of this university? Are we not concerned about our own student government? Text messages containing adversarial words are viral on the mobile phones of the class presidents. Is this the only way for the source of the message to fight for your existence? Is this the only way for you how to initiate a good and legal fight for your cry? Or the least, have you carefully read and understood the provisions in the constitution for you to say that your organization is vanished forever in the structure? Or should I ask, where you able to be present during the readings, instead? It is my challenge for you to fight a fair fight in a decent and in an ATENEAN way. Observing on your actions, you dont deserve to be called as an Ateneo leader. The rights of the students are to be listed in the Constitution, and must be protected by SAMAHAN at all times. The commissioners never failed to insert that in the Constitution. Again, SAMAHAN cannot protect its people if SAMAHAN has no Constitution. In this case, are we still going to consider our personal interest rather than the general welfare of the entire students of this university? Where now is that thing that we call persons for others by the way? My dear fellow Ateneans, we always wait for the best things to come to us, however we do not even extend a simple effort to acquire such. We cant just open our mouth and wait for our parents to spoon feed us. The same is true by saying we cannot wait for SAMAHAN to serve us without we doing the least obligation for SAMAHAN. Lastly, there is no perfect Constitution, and there is always no way for it to be perfected; but there is a chance to lessen its imperfections. If we see more good things and less, a much lesser imperfections, are we still going to throw away the Constitution? If you have a piece of cake, and there being embedded 18 candles, out of the 18 only one is unlighted, will you still not give the rest a sweet blow? Can we make a good and sound judgment about this? It is my plea for everybody, especially to the leaders who always consider their personal interests over the general welfare of the rest, and to my fellow Ateneans whose apathy can be potentially ended, I humbly request that please vote according to your sound judgment. I may not be able to leave you the final words, the voice of a begging person whose interest is to persuade you to vote for what you think is for the COMMON GOOD, this voice, the voice of truth, the voice of conviction, the voice that speaks of justice and equality, will be the voice that will clatter and ring in your conscience once you tolerate your apathy and negligence for giving the right things for the rest. It will forever sound in your nightmare when you let the chance to pass, the chance to do GOOD, to do JUSTICE, to do your PART.
