It is nearly midnight and the end of the 2nd superb days racing - TopicsExpress

It is nearly midnight and the end of the 2nd superb days racing out here in the Pyrenees. The amazing news - well for us anyway... Team Hollybank have moved up to 2nd place overall out of 13 teams -meaning that it is all to race for in the final stage. Today had a stunning 50 miles of undulating riding as a peloton before the teams were set off in 2 minute intervals for the race section up Col du Solour. A total of 2067m of climbing and 120km riding - it was the time of the 6th rider out of a team of 8 that counted - so we had to work well together. Chasing down other teams up the road is always good fun, but painful work on an uphill team time trial! At the top of the mountain we had an exciting final 500m sprint finish with a team from the dZi Foundation, all the way from California. They are sitting in the top spot and we will have out work cut out to beat them over 105km and up Col du Tourmalet tomorrow - so on that note I need my recovery sleep... a special mention to Tristan Emptage for his superb teamwork today. I am out here riding as the Pro in the Hollybank Trust team, and our aim is to raise as much profile and funds for this wonderful charity. My involvement is part of my ambassadorial work with LDC who have sponsored the Trois Etapes event for the last three years. You can find out more at ldc.co.uk and troisetapes.org.
