It is no longer news that INEC just approved the registration of two new political parties. Let’s not pretend; the only party of interest is the PDM, The political movement of Late Alhaji Shehu Musa Yaradua. That movement has obviously been taken over by Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku. Mr. Atku, as at this moment, whose presidential ambition has never been in doubt, is still telling whoever cares to listen that he still remains a member of PDP. The man is a smart, visionary and clever politician. He is still testing the waters, gauging what will happen to PDP. He is still observing how many governors will be so disenchanted with PDP that they will be ready to quit. I hear about nine governors are already lined up jump ship from the wobbling PDP! And then after all said and done, Mr. Atiku will become the presidential flag bearer of his new party. The bad news is that he will never become an elected Nigerian president! The tragedy of the Nigerian political development is that everyone is very selfish. Anyone who feels he is something after helping themselves to the national till feels it is their birthright to occupy the Aso Rock Villa. That is why some presidential aspirants will keep trying even though it is obvious their baggage will never let them achieve it. It is also obvious that the contrived crisis in the PDP is a concerted effort to weaken it to the extent that Dr. Goodluck Jonathan will never return for a second term. The Northern agenda is gradually taking shape and the rest of Nigeria is watching. If the goose that lays the golden egg cannot be allowed to control it for the agreed durations others were and are entitled, then something is seriously wrong with this contraption called a country. Treating the South South with this level of disdain calls for a sober reflection from all and sundry. No one should tell me that any of the clowns jostling for the presidency could have or will perform better than the present occupant. It will be the same crop of corrupt, wicked and unfeeling people who will move from one party to the other just to get a chance at being in absolute control of the stealing. I want to appeal to all South South governors not to be deceived into jumping into this new bandwagon of yester year’s looters. They do not mean well for you or your people. They think you are still as stupid as the years of yore and they believe you can and will be manipulated to do their bidding. All they are after is our resources. No South South governor should be a traitor to the Niger Delta struggle. If you are south South governor and you no longer like the PDP, then form your own party and contest as the presidential candidate. That way, we will know that you are acting noble.
