It is no surprise that when an issue comes home, political ideologues can suddenly become more understanding and compassionate. This applies to gender equity, LGBT issues, joblessness, crises over health insurance, prejudice, etc. Lets be candid, many pro-life folks might quickly change their tunes if they face having a rapist as the life-long dad of their grandchild. They just might not care enuf when someone else is facing the situation. I know some wont change their positions; at least they arent hypocritical. I respect a lot of political and religious positions but a tragedy of our times is what political (on both sides) and religious ideologues, who would change in a minute if it happened to them, often put others thru.
