It is not in the nature of Saxe-Coburg Gotha or of Bourbon or Windsor as well to see their representatives eating meatballs with a plastic fork . Thats why we should not be surprised to see Albert 2 or Juan Carlos used their natural take over reason. Belgium should not give an eternal gratitude for the priesthood of the King. But Belgium should ensure a decent life for Albert. It just goes to the dignity of the office and the image of the Kingdom abroad. By the way, there are limits of this insurance. This is not include to allow that Albert lives as a billionaire at the expense of the state for a very slight ( a 10-year career ? ) duty. The royal pension should not exceed the salary of a former Speaker of the House with perhaps some benefits in kind. Do not including a villa in the south of France or a yacht ! The monarchy is a reminiscence of the past. We preserve a tradition but the excess will be punished as severely as in the past. Albert, the German Catholic king behaves like a Bourbon, a latin Catholic king with all the excess that supposed ! And his cousin Juan Carlos eventually become the gravedigger of the monarchical regime that he has contributed greatly to defend. If the Crown of England is still popular is because the British nation takes lots of benefits in economic terms. Not sure that the glamor of Mathilde and her husband added to Fabiola escapades and jet-set life of Albert is so beneficial to Belgian taxpayers ! Just 2 compares to the Netherlands monarchy!
