It is not just our Government that is afraid of celebrating 1916. - TopicsExpress

It is not just our Government that is afraid of celebrating 1916. Our media masters are also guilty of dumbing down 1916. Id a granduncle with Thomas Ashe at Ashbourne in 1916, murdered by the Tans in Nov 1920. Equally his brother died in Flanders while another, my grandfather suffered two mock executions. Bleeding-heart, Blue-blood, Blackshirt Bruton led the debate that we somehow dishonoured our Irish in the Queens uniform. I KNOW that in my family and village, ALL were treated the same - wiped from memory. It was long after the event that this now 60+ grandchild heard any discussion of the events. Yet my village Lusk would rival ANY place as the hot bed of the Volunteers with 28 men with Ashe that Easter morning. Is it that NONE from RTE/NUJ or FG with whitewash intent of 1916 had any relative involved and now somehow believe that the Rising was bloodless and not the image for the 21st century? Well very many of my foreign Facebook friends and especially from America are fully knowledgeable of our rich revolutionary history as after almost all states needed to revolt for independence and none feel ashamed! thejournal.ie/readme/celebrating-1916-easter-rising-1803421-Nov2014/
