It is not news that money talks or that the powerful will use - TopicsExpress

It is not news that money talks or that the powerful will use their money to their advantage. It is absolutely ridiculous that Liberals continue to be aghast by this reality when it is the oldest trick in the book. Along with this ridiculousness is the rather meaningless or perhaps self-serving or self-righteous perpetual pointing of blatant injustice related to powerful use of money. The question has never been are people going to do terrible things with power? Or at least it shouldnt be the question after even the most terse reflection upon human history. The Question is What are you going to do about? Regarding that question it seems to me that the Democratic Party is indistinguishable from the Republican party. If anything, the Republican Party is more honest about their preferential treatment of the Rich. The democratic party is in a hazy conflicting and ultimately incoherent game of trying to make everybody happy. It is then understandable why so many honest people are turning toward Libertarianism. It is a kind of throw your hands up or wash your hands of the whole corrupt system. I think you have to be a pessimist to be Libertarian and I am unfortunately not there yet. But there is then a great dilemma, what to do? Whatever we do, whatever I do, one thing is clear: We HAVE to talk about it. Isolationism is not an option in a healthy democracy (and that brings up another idea for further reflection: the relationship between individualism in an isolationist key and the democratic process). That we can talk about it through rational discourse (to the best of our ability) is the ultimate ground of hope for this whole experiment. We the people have to seize hold of the opportunities to talk to each other about desires, goals, wishes and concerns. AND WE HAVE TO VOTE!!!!
