It is not so obvious to the oppressed that we are oppressed. This is because the oppressed is now included in the ballot box in order that he writes an x next to a political party of his choice. It then seems as though when she exercises this right of voting, democracy is prevailing and that even their vote matters. The challenge is the hidded truth and reality about this: the ruling class controls the ballot, controls the IEC, controls the machines and the entire technology for counting votes etc, even the ruling class controls the dissemination of news through mainstream media. Here is another interesting thing which the oppressed finds difficult to believe: if the ruling class controls state machinery (IEC, the police, the media and the entire millitary and techology) the state controls elections. Moreover the oppressor has an interest to remain in power, to continue to rule in the name of democracy. If then the state aims at not loosing, and the state controls the outcomens of elections, then the oppressor can never make it possible for the oppressed to change the one in power. The final analysis is that when the oppositions argue there is fraud in elections, they send their objections to institutions which are called independent such as the IEC and the courts. This is garbage. IEC is not independent or non-partisan. The courts are not neutral. These are biased, partisan institutions whose appointments are deliberately political and are there to maintain the oppressor in power. The problem in the first place is that these individuals are members of the ruling party and therefore the latter is interested in the maintance of the status quo. The government appoints judges, and the IEC final decision makes are government offials aligned to the ruling party and class with respect to their own attitude. It is total nonsense to believe that a Judge during apartheid times is different from a judge during democratic apartheid times. Both judges represent are simila
