It is not that complicated to figure out if you are equipped to have a pet. I am a little tired of hearing about folks who give up pets they cannot handle. You quite simply dont get a pet if you are not committed to what that means. I am an incredible animal lover, and have had a variety of pets over the years. I miss that immensely! This is the longest span of time I have gone without a beloved pet, and it bothers me a lot. I also know I am at a point in life where I am not quite ready or willing to take on that kind of responsibility again...I almost let my feelings get the best of me sometimes, but I remember the huge responsibility. A pet is a family member, and you have to be willing to make the sacrifices that come with that...it is a lifelong commitment.....it is not a choice to be taken lightly and it is very unfair to the animal when you do that.....I am soooo close to getting a dog again because they have been such amazing and loving parts of my life, but I hesitate....it has to be right for both of us.....
