It is, of course, a quaint and quintessential Thanksgiving ritual to ruminate and remember that and those for which we are thankful. Well, heres one of mine. A Castle Productions docu-tour of New York: The Wonder City from 1938, set against the live recording of Benny Goodmans and Louis Primas epic Sing, Sing, Sing, recorded at Goodmans peerless Carnegie Hall concert that January. The music is stunning. . .the images sublime. And, of course, befitting of New York, the irony oozes from unexpected cracks in the nostalgia. Sing, Sing, Sing is 12 minutes in length, but the film is about 14 minutes. So in the trip up Broadway from the Statue of Liberty to the tip of Manhattan, guess where the music stops? HARLEM. Arguably, the place where the music starts. Enjoy your holiday. M youtu.be/qUbgwADLFPM
