It is official. US Secretary of State John Kerry has managed to restart the negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis. The goal of the negotiations is to reach a final settlement of all issues that exist between the parties, thus achieving a lasting peace between them. Unfortunately any agreement that might be reached between the Palestinians and Israelis does not resolve the much larger and continuing problem of the Arab Israeli Conflict. As an inducement to get the Palestinian Authority back to the negotiating table, the United States is reportedly going to provide the PA with a written document (a letter) stating that the US supports the Palestinian positions on the various pre-conditions that were not achieved. The Israelis are also reportedly going to receive a document containing a statement that the United States supports Israeli positions on certain issues. Thus far the general overall consensus of both Palestinian and Israeli is that the letter each side will receive possesses all the value and validity of time shares for swamp land sold by glib, fast-talking characters with greasy hair wearing lime green, polyester leisure suits. As for the negotiations themselves that begin in Washington, DC next week, picture a representative of the "Save the Porcupines" trying to cajole two full-grown, brisling porcupines, one female, one male, neither in heat, to mate, while a whole gang of on looking good-old-boys poke the porcupines with pointy sticks. War is raging in the Sinai Desert. The Egyptian military is taking casualties daily. War is raging in Syria. One example of the price being paid by the civilian population – the Syrian military dropped several motor rounds into a busy market on Sunday killing 20 local shoppers and merchants. The Jihadist rebels just announced that they received a major shipment of arms and advanced weaponry. They have virtually established their own country in the vast expanse of Syria that they control. They are opening fighting the "heretic" Free Syria Army. The Kurds are also about to declare the part of Syria that they control as their own independent country. They may attempt to hook-up with their fellow Kurds in northern Turkey who may declare their independence.
