We have nothing to lose but our chains. - Assata Shakur Today I marched with hundreds of young people from the Water Tower to Wicker Park to the West Side for over four hours in memory of Mike Brown and countless other black and brown bodies who died at the hands of police. I am grateful for the cops who escorted us across the city as we marched peacefully. I am proud of the efforts of the #LetUsBreathe Collective and their fearless leader, Kristiana Colon as well as #BYP100 for guiding us and empowering us with the chants and the knowledge. Im glad to have seen so many friends, old classmates and former co-workers out there today including Chance Therapper, Dixon E. Romeo, Onyx Mandelbrot, Alisa Manang and more.
