It is sad to see our country decay into a violent society. Its actually been a trend for quite sometime, I think I am just starting to wrap my mind around the problem. As a society I sometimes wonder if we promote and embrace violence without actually realizing what we are doing. As you are surfing around the net or on Facebook, pay attention to any post involving guns. The comments are subtle but troublesome. People really like to thump their chests when it comes to guns. Everyone is a bad-ass, when they have their gun in their hands. The reality is none of us can predict what we would do if we were faced with a situation where it was us or them. Kill or be killed. One thing for sure, killing someone is a life changing event that I sincerely hope no one ever has to endure. I am thankful I have never had to face that situation, not even remotely. I think changing the attitude of people toward gun violence begins with understanding what puts people in a scenario where this could happen. I am not talking about having too much to drink and being mouthy, those are rare occurrences. Most people resort to violence out of desperation and a feeling of hopelessness. Of course, there those cowboys that think the only solution comes at the end of a gun.
