It is sad when someone can only see one side of a story. There are people who are so sensitive that they cant deal with someone who does not agree with them. Research has nothing to do with discrediting anyone. As a historian and researcher, it is important to find information and check and question sources. When the Indian agents were taking the old census, they wrote down information that was translated - often translated incorrectly - but because Indian agents considered themselves some kind of gods and had so much authority over the Indians on the reservation, they often werent questioned. I also have been doing research on my family history and will continue to do so until I feel that I have checked every possible source and TALKED with people on the reservation who most often know the real truth. My family were people who were into genealogy long before it became popular. Me and my immediate family also had a great deal of contact with our grandparents because we and they lived on the reservation. When my maternal grandmother was severely ill, my maternal grandfather came and stayed with us for a long time until my grandmother passed away. One particular evening. my maternal grandfather spent a great deal of time just talking about his past but he did not ever talk about his grandmother. I believe that the answers can be found and also believe that my family will benefit from my research which I also have been doing for a long time.
