It is shocking that the Department of Education considers the content of the Draft Budget 2015/16 acceptable. The proposed cuts will have a devastating impact on education. The damage will have far-reaching consequences for society and the economy, which may take a generation to undo. Even more worrying, is the speculation of further cuts to education funding to come. It is despairing that our politicians have allowed this to happen. The Minister needs to consider what the long term implications of this budget proposal will be and ask himself the question, ‘Is this right for the children Northern Ireland?’
