It is so inspiring to see so many people all over the country getting involved and participating in the marches to denounce the injustices in Ferguson, Ayotzinapa, Palestine...etc. However, we must all realize that as important as those actions are to raise the consciousness of the masses, those actions alone will NEVER be enough to bring about real change. The system knows that realistically, in a few days, the protests will get smaller and MOST of the people who protested will go back to their normal lives and they will not continue to struggle in an ORGANIZED manner. On May 1st 2006 and 2007, we had MILLIONS of people in the streets for Immigration Reform...etc but on May 2nd, how many of them were members of movement organizations that were committed and accountable to the movement? Thats why we always push ORGANIZATION! If you are serious about bringing about REAL change (systematic, institutional) and are not part of any movement organization or revolutionary party, JOIN one! Otherwise you are just on your own. Social movements and revolutions arent made by individuals; they are made by organizations and revolutionary parties. Brothers and sisters, being a good activist and going to marches whenever you feel like it is great but it is not enough. We need organizers and revolutionaries and we need people to be accountable to an organization or party. Every great leader/revolutionary that you can think of was successful not just because of their individual qualities but because their work was done within an organization or party. The point is, join an org or party! The movement needs you!
